Southern California Information:
Probably the best known sign in the world is a 50 foot structure in Los Angeles, California.
Built in 1923 as "Hollywoodland", it's purpose was to advertise a new housing
development in the hills. The history of movie making is everywhere, from the
numerous studios to the landscape of desert, mountain and beaches. Watch for a
sign for "a map to the stars", a tour of all the movie stars homes.
Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills is one of the most famous streets in the world.
Known for it's designer shops and a place to spot the rich and famous.
The "Happiest Place" on earth opened in 1955, "Disneyland". Today it has
expanded into a resort, similar to Disneyworld in Florida.
Southern California, known for their beaches and surfing, also hosts the
Mojave Desert to the east and numerous mountain ranges.
Many of the businesses from the "Golden Age of Hollywood" are gone. Places like
the Brown Derby, The Magambo, Ciro's, Schwab's Drug Store, The Trocadero, and
the Garden of Allah apartments with it's numerous bungalows.
Here's a few signs of interest in Southern California.
